Lists of 1st Grade Spelling Words

1st grade spelling word list – 200 spelling words of different kinds for your 1st grader to learn, including short vowels, long vowels, sight words, and more. These are the words your pupils should learn in 1st grade. The sooner they learn them, the better their chances of success in spelling, reading, and writing! Here’s an example of the entire list:

 

First-grade spelling lists include nouns, verbs, colors, and numbers, which are the “extra” words that students need to begin writing.

First-grade spelling words: short vowels Here is a basic list of 70 first-grade spelling terms for use throughout the year. This list simply includes short vowel sounds, plus a few consonant blends. We organized the terms into word families.

Grade 1 Spelling words: Long vowels – This list includes 50 basic words with long vowel sounds, organized by word family.

As a result, children must be familiar with the spellings of specific words in order to communicate effectively.
