2nd Grade Sight Words: Sight words from the second grade are typically prominently displayed on the wall for the benefit of the students, ideally at a child’s eye level. Correct spelling of these words is appropriate for a second grader.

A list of misspelled words appropriate for second grade, Spelling Demons, also contains many of the previously mentioned sight words. Students often misspell homophones and phonologically irregular words.

2nd Grade Sight Words: A young learner must automatically recognize these words and learn how to spell them by heart.  Many sight words are also homophones.

A high frequency word list’s objective is to identify terms that will facilitate young children’s reading and writing development. The list of words is often selected based on how often the words occur in beginning books.

Our goal is for pupils to eventually become sight word proficient—that is, to be able to identify these words just by sight.
